Behind the Scenes

What up? I’m still working on a few things behind the scenes here at the blog. Mainly things like making sure I’m getting the hang of affiliate linking before making posts, trying to figure out how to best do my advertisements, and a tiny bit of restructuring. Maybe.

But all that’s really, REALLY hard to do when you’re already strapped for time, then you go through reading other blogs, and then you spend a lot of time on Hulu because you can’t stop watching Chopped (it’s where I got the inspiration to basically clean out my fridge, pantry, and freezer so I can start fresh with groceries here soon!) and Beat Bobby Flay. And THEN you discover that your favorite tv show of the early 90s is also now on Hulu (Hi, Melrose Place, and those awful clothes Jane Mancini designed!) and you must watch it again in its entirety. Speaking of Melrose Place, did you know that there is an entire podcast dedicated to it? Yep – Melrose Pod. And I haven’t started listening yet, but I plan to ASAP!

Since a post isn’t a post without a photo, here are some firsts for the year:

My first selfie of 2018…

Aristotle’s first snow…

And my first haul of 2018…

This capiz shell-lined pod wood set will probably go in the shop here soon. But there’s no place that says I can’t use it till I sell it!

I know I have tentatively dubbed my design style as Mid-Century Rustic and this is clearly Hollywood Regency, but still…I am absolutely going to use this majestic brass lion’s head door knocker on my front door! To me, Deco and Mid-Century styles actually work quite well together.

And lastly, one of my unwritten resolutions for this year was to buy every Falsa blanket I come across. Obviously, my budget only allows me to do this mostly in thrift stores. But that’s okay. That’s where I found three of the four I have at a fraction of the cost! And I’ve seen literally dozens of beautiful ones in the thrifts before I started collecting them for myself.

Anyway, that – and getting as cheap and creative with dinners as I possibly can – is what I’ve been up to since the last post. All this just to say that unlike times in the past where I planned on posting and creating content, this time I am actually actively working on things to write here – just still mostly working on it all behind the scenes. I hope to be back to meme-age and link parties soon!

Nice selfie! Love that door knocker too. Never watched Melrose Place so maybe I’d better not start…it’s hard to find time to finish watching Grace & Frankie (without falling asleep part way through), LOL!

I’ve never seen Grace and Frankie – but maybe I will get to it one of these days! I find myself falling asleep part of the way through the Melrose Place episodes myself. But the advantage I have is that I did see them before (even if it was 20 years ago!) Still, there’s a lot I didn’t remember..
