I wasn’t thinking.

I wasn’t thinking.

I clearly wasn’t thinking when I made the commitment to #NaBloPoMo during an election year, and as a result, I’ve been on a self-imposed, week-and-a-half long break. I’d probably sit this week out, too, but as it turns out I am now sidelined with a pretty serious sinus infection which has kept me housebound for several days. I may as well catch up. Long story short: I knew the election was going to be bad, and take a lot out…

Random train of thought and Songs for Sunday

Random train of thought and Songs for Sunday

I’ve been working today on getting my latest Etsy shop, Ghost Rain Vintage, up and running. (If you’re wondering why I now have two shops, I branched off because I wanted to be able to more clearly focus on vintage resale on one, and start getting upcycled projects on the other. More info can be found at each shop’s page, both of which are listed up above.) I was putting an “about” page together for Etsy, and wanted to explain…

What do you NEVER leave behind?

What do you NEVER leave behind?

It’s day six of #NaBloPoMo and already, I’m feeling a bit burned out. But it’s Saturday, and we get an extra hour, so there’s that. And I guess this is as good a late night day as any to launch a new category, “None Left Behind”. It’s not as serious or philanthropic as it sounds, though. It’s just that as a vintage collector AND reseller, there are some things that I grab whenever I see them, no matter how many…

I didn’t think it was possible for me to be this exhausted.

I didn’t think it was possible for me to be this exhausted.

Note: Yes, today is a two-for-one, because this post was typed last night after my little day-trip to Franklin, Tennessee. But since I was so, so, so tired from this week, I forgot to finish the post after a small distraction. That distraction led to a break, which led to me sitting on the sofa to watch this week’s Project Runway, which led to me waking up on the sofa well after midnight this morning. Today was the day for…

Firing the Doctor and Road Tripping to Franklin, Tennessee

Firing the Doctor and Road Tripping to Franklin, Tennessee

Sigh. I guess that’s one way to look at it. It sounds a lot better than “thanks to my severely limited funds, but needing to breathe, I have opted to drive two hours one way to a town outside Nashville to avoid paying a $200 Urgent Care Clinic visit.” So…a bit of back story: I had to fire my doctor in April of last year. Partly because he was condescending (but I overlooked that because he was a good doctor…

Almost there!

Almost there!

It now the end of day two of #NaBloPoMo, and also: The Cookie Monster’s 47th birthday. The day in 1967 when Pink Floyd recorded “Paintbox” at Abbey Road. The Season 3 premiere of Salem, which I won’t get to watch till tomorrow since I cut the cable cord a while back. Day eight of a nine-consecutive-day work week for me. Tonight was my fourth double, or open-to-close, in eight days. See? Important stuff! Actually, I am totally wiped out. Physically…

Hello, #NaBloPoMo!

Hello, #NaBloPoMo!

And just like that, it’s November. Not that you can really tell in my neck o’ the woods (other than the changing tree leaves). See, I’m in Alabama, and, in addition to being in the midst of a pretty brutal drought (I don’t think we’ve had rain since July or August except for a few drizzles one afternoon in September), we’ve also been experiencing record-breaking high temps. Today’s temperature? 86 degrees or so. Tomorrow’s high is supposed to be around…
