Music Monday for 04.22.19 – Sorry For the Confusion!

Note: If you swung by before now, you wouldn’t have seen today’s Music Monday post because I was having a lot of issues writing yesterday, and then the scheduled post didn’t go through. Of course, I was at work all day today, and am just now getting around to getting this posted. Sorry for any confusion, but at least it IS still Monday! (I have been known to show up late to the party on Tuesday from time to time!)

What a week/weekend it’s been! I know everyone is sick of hearing about car trouble, but we’re still dealing with it. My car is behaving for now, but my son also had some car trouble alongside mine, so I’ve been taking him to and from work for a bit. So Friday before work he treated his Mama to a hot fudge sundae at a local diner/ice cream parlor that I’ve been wanting to try out for ages.

Of course, my sundae from Golden Years Ice Cream Parlor & Diner was delicious, but I really fell in love with the decor! I really wish I had gotten more pics, but there were people in there eating and working and I don’t like to snap photos of folks without their permission. But you get the idea!

The “Monday’s Music Moves Me” theme for this week is freebie, but I’m inspired by my trip to the diner and thought I’d give you a few songs you might find on the jukebox in an old-fashioned diner – but as always, with my twist!

The Ramones – “Surfin’ Bird” (Original: The Trashmen – 1963)

ZZ Top – “Jailhouse Rock” (Original: Elvis Presley – 1957) It’s the first song in this video, but not the only one. The song’s only about two and a half minutes long!

Social Distortion – “Folsom Prison Blues” (Original: Johnny Cash – 1955)

Have a great week, everyone! And be sure to head to Dolly’s or Cathy’s to check out everyone else’s selections on this freebie week – maybe even participate yourself!

    Kim,

I’m glad your blog is cooperating this morning. lol Technology can drive a person crazy, can’t it? Three interesting song picks. ‘Surfin’ Bird’ didn’t do much for me. ZZ Top love their mewsic and swagger. Just some laid back mewsicians who love guitar playing just about as much as they do women. 😀 Social Distortion never heard of them, but I liked their ‘Folsom Prison Blues’ cover wasn’t bad keeping close to Cash’s original except not sounding quite as country. The lead singer’s vocals are interesting. I’m heading over to YT to sample more mewsic by them. Have a boogietastic week, my dear!

Three interesting covers. So: I am not the biggest ZZ Top fan but they SLAYED Jailhouse Rock. It was better than some of ZZ’s hit songs, speaking of the later part of the video. Ramones – I like them, generally, but they had no business trying Surfer Bird (sorry). Social Distortion is anew group to me. Gotta admit, Johnny Cash still rules on that song, and he always will. Hoping your life gets a little easier in the coming weeks.

Oooh! That looks like a super fun diner to hang out in, not to mention that sundae looks delicious! 🙂

Excellent song choices too, my friend – I enjoyed them all! 🙂 Thanks so much for the dance!

ZZ Top took Jail House Rock to a whole new level. I have to agree with others, The Ramones and Surfin’ Bird were not a good combination. Have a blessed week.
