Music Monday for 04.14.2019

I actually had a fairly settled week, and it was nice. I was also able to mostly stave off the anxiety that comes with waiting for the other shoe to drop, so that was also nice. I am hoping it’s as smooth sailing as possible from here on out, because I really have had enough worry this past month to last me the rest of the year.

This week’s theme over at Monday’s Music Moves me (see Dolly’s or Cathy’s websites for more info and to participate!) is once again brought to you by me, so I hope you enjoy.

“Choose a song where a particular instrument has moved you – whether it’s a favorite vocal sound, bass line, drumming/beats, piano, guitar solo, etc.”

I know that might require a bit of further explanation: these can be, but do not have to be, popular songs with memorable instrumental solos of any kind. Due to listening time and post length constraints, mine are. For this post, all my selections except for one focus solely on guitar. Perhaps I’ll get to revisit this topic in the future and focus on a different instrument! Also, I know no one has time to listen to all of them. Just browse the titles and pick what you like, or introduce yourself to something new.

The first selection on my list is by Pink Floyd. Truthfully, just about any song by Pink Floyd could have ended up on this list because they’re one of those bands that just have this incredibly surreal, space-y, prog sound, which is truly the sum of ALL its parts. However, I love this one in particular because it is a tribute to the late Syd Barrett, first and foremost, so there’s some real emotion going on. I also love all the (somewhat unconventional) instrumentation that they used in this one, such as a glass harp, and lap steel guitar. And I just love the bass. I love that it sounds both bluesy in addition to retaining the band’s signature prog/space sound.

Pink Floyd – “Shine On You Crazy Diamond”

And these are just a few songs that feature some of my favorite guitar sounds:

Journey – “Lights”

Muse – “Madness”

Ozzy Osbourne – “Mr. Crowley”>

And perhaps my favorite guitar solo ever…

Queen – “We Will Rock You”

What music has been moving YOU this week?

Super cool songs, I always love the bass line in “We Will Rock You”, that is my favorite part in the movie. Thanks for the dance.

OMG I know I’m going to be saying this all day, but WHY DIDN’T I THINK OF THAT??? snicker~snicker! JOURNEY is awesome and the old singer is too. The new singer may sound like him, but he’ll never replace him in my book. The feeling and the look is not there. Love the song you’ve chosen with the voice and the guitar… fabulous!!! Pink Floyd girlfriend you’re right on the money with them and you’re so right every time they play it’s a different experience! Sorry Muse I never heard that one before, but you got it girl!!! Ozzy Osbourne – “Mr. Crowley” dang girlfriend you can’t expect not to have an experience with ol’ Ozzy!!! and just saying “QUEEN” is a experience these days! Man, he sure had a set of teeth on him didn’t he, but as he said he was afraid he’d sing different without them… hey who are we to judge, right? Wow, it cut off the best part… well I know it don’t you? ~snicker~ HAVE A GREAT DAY & GREAT JOB girlfriend… love the theme!

I loved early Pink Floyd with Sid Barrett. He truly was an original who inspired so many others. Ozzy is Ozzy. Thanks for sharing the tunes.
