What I’m looking forward to this year

What I’m looking forward to this year

Ah, 2017 – now that you’re here, and have been here for almost a month, I am starting to feel a bit comfortable with you. I’m already off to a good start with personal and professional goals, and that feels really good! I want to continue to push myself enough out of my comfort zone for progress in all things I wish to improve, but not so far out that I feel I’ve lost sight of myself.

This week marks my (hopefully) triumphant return to Ink Interrupted‘s Tuesday Coffee Chat! What is Coffee Chat, you ask? This link explains it all.

This week’s topic is “Is there anything special you are looking forward to in 2017?” And, why yes! Yes, there is! CONCERTS!! To make a LONG story short, 2017 is so far showing many parallels to the last year I had any hope for my life improving. And that feels really good. That year was 2011, when I separated from my then husband, and started actively working to improve my mental and physical health. Part of what helped me hold onto my sanity during that year of turmoil was road-tripping to Atlanta to visit my friend Spank and go to concerts! I must have attended half a dozen (I know that doesn’t seem like much to some people, but to me it definitely is!) or more within a year’s time.

I had hoped to keep the train rolling, but then life happened. I quit going to shows (mainly for financial reasons). I quit eating right. I quit working out. Obviously, I lost my way. But this year feels different. Despite feeling angry and hopeless over many things I can not control (just like 2011), it still feels like the perfect time to focus on the things I can control and improve. In that respect, I’m doing okay. I look forward to progress in those areas.

But I digress. What I look forward to the most is getting back into the swing of things with road trips and concerts! So far, I have two lined up for the first half of the year:

I hope there will be more, but I am SO excited for these two. Green Day has been on my concert bucket list since the 90s, and it’s just never worked out where I could see them. And I didn’t even know The Damned still performed. 40 years they’ve been at it!

What are you looking most forward to in 2017?

  1. I miss going to live shows! Jeepers that last one I saw was The Wiggles!! LOL
Although they were really good. Green Day would be a good act to see for sure, I have not heard of the other one. I am taking my girls to see Disney on Ice — woot! LOL – but they will love it and Disney is always happy, right? ๐Ÿ™‚
I hope get to see many this year and we get to hear all about it!

    1. Disney is definitely always happy. It’s the happiest place on earth, after all! (and I’m sure their touring productions are as well!)

  2. Ooh. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a concert. ๐Ÿ™ But if I could, I would go to that Green Day one too. I really like that band too! However, who are The Damned? I’m too lazy to look up their songs. Haha.

    1. The Damned are an old-school English punk band that goes, way, WAY back. I don’t know many of their songs, but the few I do know I love! According to their Wikipedia page, they were the first punk band to release a single and an album here in the US, and also the first English punk band to tour the US. Now that I hadn’t known till I checked it out!
