Manufacturer: Libbey USA
Year Produced: approximately 1976
Earlier this fall while out thrifting, I came across these fun, festive, and super-cute Santa glasses, and of course I had to bring them home with me! I recognized them immediately as Libbey’s “Holiday” Santa tall cocktail glasses from the 1970s. In fact, according the the catalog at that link, these were around in 1972.
But my set was different. Obviously branded for a holiday promotion with Jack’s Restaurants, they were in such fantastic shape I was sure they were a reissue. I went to the Jack’s website and searched it as thoroughly as I could before reaching out to Jack’s via their on-site feedback form. The next day, I received a response from Brand Manager Christy Gravitt stating that she believes they were offered in 1976. They’re 40 this year, y’all!
These glasses are also out there with the DQ logo. And although I haven’t found anything on the Libbey site to confirm this, there are a lot of searches on the net that turn up these glasses as designed by Holt-Howard.
These are definitely added to my “None Left Behind” list.
